Melattur (मेलात्तूर) is a town in Thanjavur district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is located 18 km from the town of Thanjavur.[1]
Variants
History
It is famous as a place of origin of the Melattur style of Bharatanatyam founded by Mangudi Dorairaja Iyer[2] and a series of dance-drama performances called the Bhagavatha Melas.[3]

मेलात्तूर (AS, p.759) तमिलनाडू के जिला तंजौर में तंजौर के निकट एक ग्राम प्राचीनकाल में दक्षिण भारत की विशिष्ट नृत्यशैली भरतनाट्यम के लिए प्रसिद्ध था. यह ग्राम नृत्य का एक केंद्र समझाता था. इस नृत्य शैली के अन्य केंद्र शूलमंगलम् और उथूकाडू थे.
