Location of Gohad in Bhind District

Mudhaina (मुडैना) is a village in Gohad tahsil of Bhind district in Madhya Pradesh. This was the site of fort of Bamraulia Rana Jats of Gohad. The forts nearby Gohad included Chitaura, Karwas, Madhaina, Itayli, Pipahad etc were managed by chieftains of Bamraulia clan.[1]

Various Jat clans had an important role in running the administration of Gohad state. The supreme power of the state vested in the King but the senior chieftains from Jat clans in-charge of various forts in the state used to keep a balance.

Rana Bhim Singh (1702-1755) became ruler of Gohad after death of his father Rana Jaswant Singh. Gohad became a powerful state in regime of Rana Bhim Singh. There were 125 chieftains looking after the affairs of various forts. Some prominent chieftains were: [2] (Ojha,p.60)

  • ठाकुर जाहरसिंह - [पृ.570]: आप मुडैना के रहने वाले हैं जोकि जिला भिंड में अवस्थित है। गोत्र आपका राणा है। आप समझदार हैं। छोटे भाई का नाम मनोहरसिंह जी है। अवस्था आपकी इस समय लगभग 50 साल होगी। जाट क्षत्रिय सभा की कार्यकारिणी के आप मेंबर हैं। आपके एक भतीजे हैं जिन्होंने हिंदी प्राथमिक शिक्षा प्राप्त की है और इस अवसर पर घर का कामकाज देखते भालते हैं। [3]
