Nanjangud (नंजनगुड़), officially known as Nanjanagudu, is a city in the Mysuru district of Indian state of Karnataka.

Location
Nanjanagud is 24 km from Mysuru and 165 km from Bengaluru Via NH766. Nanjangud lies on the banks of the river Kapila (also called Kabini). Nanjangud is famous for the Srikanteshwara Temple located here.
Origin of the name
The Srikanteshwara Temple at Nanjangud is dedicated to Shiva, also called Sri Nanjundeshwara, (The Lord who drank poison). Nanjanagud literally means "the place where Nanja (Nanjundeshwara) resides" in Kannada.[1]
History
Nanjangud has been a major Shaiva centre for nearly a thousand years. Chola Kings in the 11th – 12th century is considered to have built this temple with significant additions by the Hoysalas and the Vijayanagara kings.[2] This temple was later renovated by the Hoysala kings. The Wodeyar kings of Mysore made various grants to renovate the temple.
Nanjangud is also called Dakshina Kashi (southern Kashi).[3] This city is also famous for a type of banana grown in the region called the Nanjanagoodu rasabale.[4]
नंजनगुड
नंजनगुड (Nanjangud): यह नगर कबीनी नदी के किनारे मैसूर के दक्षिण में राज्य राजमार्ग 17 पर है. यह स्थान नंजुंदेश्वर या श्रीकांतेश्वर मंदिर के लिए प्रसिद्ध है. दक्षिण काशी कही जाने वाली इस जगह पर स्थापित लिंग के बार में माना जाता है कि इसकी स्थापना गौतम ऋषि ने की थी. यह मंदिर नंजुडा को समर्पित है. कहा जाता है कि हकीम नंजुडा ने हैदर अली के पसंदीदा हाथी को ठीक किया था. इससे खुश होकर हैदर अली ने उन्हें बेशकीमती हार पहनाया था. आज भी विशेष अवसर पर यह हार उन्हें पहनाया जाता है.
