Pandulena (पंडुलेण) is historical place and a group of Buddhist caves in Pune, Maharashtra. The name "Pandavleni" has nothing to do with the Pandavas, characters in the Mahabharata epic.

History

These caves were built from 200 BCE to 2nd century AD. Cave inscriptions of Kshaharata and Nahapana have been obtained from here.

विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर ने लेख किया है ...पंडुलेण (AS, p.517) एक ऐतिहासिक स्थान और बौद्ध गुफ़ाओं का समूह है, जो पूना, महाराष्ट्र में स्थित है। ये गुफ़ाएँ 200 ई. पू. से द्वितीय शती ई. तक की हैं। इस स्थान पर क्षहरात नरेश नहपान का एक गुफ़ालेख प्राप्त हुआ था, जिससे उसका महाराष्ट्र के इस भू-भाग पर आधिपत्य प्रमाणित होता है। नहपान के अन्य अभिलेख नासिक, जुन्नार और कार्ले से भी प्राप्त हुए हैं।
