Saravana (सरवन) was the birth place of ascetic teacher of ancient India, Gosala Mankhaliputra, who was contemporary of Buddha. It is located near Sravasti in Uttar Pradesh, India.

History

Maskarin Gośāla (Jain Prakrit sources Gosala Mankhaliputta or Manthaliputra Goshalak) was an ascetic teacher of ancient India. He was a contemporary of Siddhartha Gautama, the founder of Buddhism, and of Mahavira, the last and 24th Tirthankara of Jainism.
