Saravana (सरवन) was the birth place of ascetic teacher of ancient India, Gosala Mankhaliputra, who was contemporary of Buddha. It is located near Sravasti in Uttar Pradesh, India. [1]

Maskarin Gośāla (Jain Prakrit sources Gosala Mankhaliputta or Manthaliputra Goshalak) was an ascetic teacher of ancient India. He was a contemporary of Siddhartha Gautama, the founder of Buddhism, and of Mahavira, the last and 24th Tirthankara of Jainism.
