History

The history of Sukhera Bodal village is deeply intertwined with the migration patterns and socio-political transformations of Punjab. Among the early influential families who shaped its development was the Bhateja clan, whose presence in the region can be traced back to the Mughal period (16th–18th century).

The Bhatejas, believed to be of Jatt Sikh descent, originally hailed from the Malwa region of Punjab. During the late Mughal era, Punjab was a turbulent land, marked by constant battles between the Mughal forces and the rising Sikh Misls (militant groups). Seeking refuge from the frequent conflicts, a faction of the Bhateja family migrated westward, eventually settling in Sukhera Bodal, which was then a small hamlet on the trade route connecting Multan and Amritsar.
