Bhateja
Bhateja (ਭਠੇਜਾ) is gotra of jats in Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, India and Pakistan.
Origin
This gotra originated from place name bhatha.
History
Bhatejas have been known as farmers and warriors, actively resisting Mughal rule, contributing to the Sikh Empire (1799–1849) under Maharaja Ranjit Singh, and later participating in India's independence movement. Many Bhateja families were involved in agriculture, military service, and leadership within their communities.
Bhateja families also have a rich history tied with the Bhatija Randhawa village in jalandhar, Punjab and Sukhera Bodal village in Jalalabad tehsil in Fazilka district in Punjab.
Bhateja Sikhs are jats and Bhateja Hindus began to be called khatris.

Bhateja Jats are found in the district of Fazilka, Hoshiarpur, Firozpur in Punjab.

Bhateja khatris are found in the district of Jaipur, Barmer in Punjab.
Distribution in Pakistan
Bhateja - The Bhateja tribe, like many in Punjab, have both khatri and Jat identity.They are now found mainly in Sindh, a province in southeastern Pakistan.
