Tar
Tar (तार)[1] [2] is gotra of Jats. Tar clan is found in Afghanistan.[3] Tar and Watar may stand for Tuar, and Tawari.
Origin
Jat Gotras Namesake
- Tar/Tara (Jat clan) = Tārā (तारा) (L.8, V.14). Tārā (तारा) (L.8, V.14) , the goddess, is mentioned in Pujaripali Stone Inscription of Gopaladeva....(V.14) - May that Tārā (तारा) (L.8), who has an excellent seat in the midst of the dreadful ocean, be pleased with Gôpâla, (affordmg him) excellent protection ! [4] Pujaripali (पुजारीपली) is village in Sarangarh tahsil in Raigarh district in Chhattisgarh.
- Tar (तार) (Jat clan) → Taradehi (तारादेही) is a village in Damoh tahsil in Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh.
History
Ram Sarup Joon says that The Tartars admit themselves to be Chandravanshi. Abul Gazi, the Scythian historian, writes that the forefathers of the Turks were descendants of Tar Jatali, a Jat.[5]
