Usha Sangwan is a Managing Director at Life Insurance Corporation of India, India's biggest life insurance company.[1]

Sangwan has a Master's in Economics and Human Resources from Punjab University. Career

Earlier she has also handled LIC Housing Finance which is a subsidiary of LIC. She played an important role in turnaround of this company by raising $29.85 million through global depository receipts in 2004. She segregated marketing and underwriting divisions and introduced risk-based pricing.[3] She is one of the directors of Axis Bank.

Brief Profile

Ms Usha Sangwan, is a post graduate in economics, post graduate diploma holder in human resources management and licentiate from Insurance Institute of India. She is the first ever Managing Director of Life Insurance Corporation of India and sits on the boards of several large corporates.

With over 30 years of experience, she has worked in all core areas of insurance including marketing, personnel, operations, housing finance, group business, direct marketing, international operations and corporate communications.

Ms. Sangwan is a Member of the Governing Council of the National Insurance Academy, Pune. She has been honoured with the Women Leadership Award in the BFSI sector by the Institute of Public Enterprise, the Brand Slam Leadership Award by CMO Asia, the Women Leadership Role Model award by Top Rankers Management Consultants and the Corporate Leadership Award for 2014 by Colour TV.[2]
