History
Sandhya Jain[1] mentions Tribes With unclear Position in Mahabharata War. Ustrakarnika (उष्ट्र कर्णिक) were defeated by Sahdeva in the south (II.28.48) and were probably a Telugu tribe.

विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[2] ने लेख किया है ...उष्ट्रकर्णिक (AS, p.103) 'पांड्यांश्च द्रविडांश्चैव सहितांश्चोण्ड्रकेरलै:, आंध्रा स्तालव नांश्चैव कलिंगानुष्ट्रकर्णिकान्।'[3] सहदेव ने अपनी दिग्विजय यात्रा के प्रसंग में इस देश को विजित किया था। संदर्भ से जान पड़ता है कि यह स्थान कलिंग या दक्षिण उड़ीसा अथवा आंध्र के निकट स्थित होगा।

Sabha Parva, Mahabharata/Book II Chapter 28 mentions Sahadeva's march towards south: kings and tribes defeated. Ushtrakarnika (उष्ट्रकर्णिक) is mentioned in Mahabharata (II.28.48).[4]....The hero brought under his subjection and exacted tributes from the Paundrayas and the Dravidas along with the Udrakeralas and the Andhras and the Talavanas, the Kalingas and the Ushtrakarnikas, and also the delightful city of Atavi (Roma) and that of the Yavanas.
