Varan (वरन) is gotra of Jats. [1]
Origin
This gotra is said to be started from their ancestor named Varuna (वरुण) . [2] or place called Varana.

V. S. Agrawala[3] writes that Panini mentions ganas headed by Varana (Varaṇa) (IV.2.82)
