Pinakini (पिनाकिनी) is the name of a river mentioned in Skandapurana. It has been identified with Vennaru River in southern India.

Vennaru River

Vennaru is a tributary of the Kaveri River in southern India. It passes through Trichy and Thanjavur in the Tamil Nadu region of the country. The fertile landscape and lush fields in and around the village of Karandai are irrigated by this river. During the Chola period, a branch of this river was dug out and expanded by the Chola king Parantaka I.[1]

Vennaaru was used for water transportation in the ancient Chola Kingdom.

In Mahabharata

Pinaki (पिनाकी) is mentioned in Mahabharata (I.60.2), (XIV.8.25), (XIV.8)

Adi Parva, Mahabharata/Book I Chapter 60 gives genealogy of all the principal creatures. Pinaki (पिनाकी) is mentioned in Mahabharata (I.60.2).[2]...There was another of the name of Sthanu. And the sons of Sthanu, gifted with great energy, were, it is known, eleven. They were Mrigavayadha, Sharva, Niriti of great fame: Ajaikapat, Ahivradhna, and Pinaki, the oppressor of foes; Dahana and Iswara, and Kapali of great splendour; and Sthanu, and the illustrious Bhava. These are called the eleven Rudras.

पिनाकिनी नदी

विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[4] ने लेख किया है .... पिनाकिनी नदी (AS, p.558) स्कंद पुराण में वर्णित नदी है। पिनाकिनी नदी का अभिज्ञान मद्रास राज्य की वेन्नार नदी से किया गया है।
