After release fromarmy,he joined Bihar police and got promoted to INDIAN POLICE SERVICE. He later attained the rank of INSPECTOR GENERAL of POLICE and retired in year 2004.
His son Col. Rajesh [[Kaswan]] is commanding 1st Sikh L.I.Battalion.
