It is situated 35km away from sub-district headquarter Champa (tehsildar office) and 15km away from district headquarter Janjgir. According to Census 2011 information the location code or village code of Birra village is 436888. Birra village is located in Champa tehsil of Janjgir Champa district in Chhattisgarh, India. As per 2009 stats, Birra village is also a gram panchayat. The total geographical area of village is 1383.67 hectares.[1]

History

Sënâdu/Senadu (सेणाडु) village mentioned in (V.39) of Kharod stone Inscription of Ratnadeva II : Chedi year 933 (1181 AD) has been identified with Sonada, 15 miles to the east of Kharôd in the Janjgir tahsil.....(V.39) He (Gangâdhara) excavated at the village called Sēṇāḍu (सेणाडु) a very large lotus-pool, the blooming lotuses in which are kissed by swarms of lovely humming bees.
