Bais
Bais (बैस) is a Jat clan found in Afghanistan.[1] James Tod places it in the list of Thirty Six Royal Races.[2]
Origin
Baisai village
- बैसै (जाट गोत्र - बैस) : बैसै नाम का गाँव झारखंड के पश्चिमी सिंहभूम जिले की तांतनगर विकास-खंड में है।
History
According to James Todd[3] The Bais has obtained a place amongst the thirty-six races, though the author believes it but a subdivision of the Suryavansi, as it is neither to be met with in the lists of Chand, nor in those of the Kumarpal Charitra. It is now numerous, and has given its name to an extensive district, Baiswara in the Duab, or the land between the Ganges and Jumna. They are almost certainly of mixed origin [4]
