Location

Banswa, a tiny village about 7 kilometers from Hodal. Neighbour Villages are Bhiduki, Khirbi.

Origin

This village was first inhabited by Bansi Dada, who came from a nearby village named Shergarh in Aligarh district. This small village of 400 people in 1960s, has now transformed into a community of over 1500 people. From huts to modern houses, from primary school to High school and from poverty to posh farmers who own cars, TVs, motor bikes, farm houses and more modern amenities. 50 years has transformed this tiny village into a mecca of prosperity. Dirt streets are now paved. You will hardly see a hut which was typical architecture of late 50's.

History about Village

It was Bansi dada who came to this barren land and settled here. From then his descendants stated living here. The history goes back to over 400 years when only 4 or five families lived on a small mount and basically raised buffalos and did farming on small farm land. Interestingly, this village has a interesting story about two water wells. This village has a major problem with water. Any where you dig well, it will be "khara water" (slightly salty - not drinkable). Villagers tried many places but could not get potable water any where. Once a saint came to the village and stayed with the head of the village. In the evening when he finished the dinner, asked for water. Family offered him milk instead. saint asked for water but family hesitated to give him water. He insisted and understood why they were not offering water to him. He slept without saying anything. He got up in the morning and asked the head of the family to accompany him to the water well. He asked the head f the village to take out water from the well. He took the bucket of this water and walked about 200 yard and poured the water on the ground and asked him to start digging new well. Village head told him that this village does not have potable water and they had tried all places for drinkable water but all in vain. Saint insisted. Well was dug in few days. Water poured out and surprisingly it was very sweet and clean. Everyone was astonished to have potable water just 200 yards from the old well. Wells still exist n the village though now villagers have personal hand pumps and some still use water from the well. Whole village has just one place where salty water is drawn from that well where as everywhere now one could get sweet and potable water.
