Brijendra Singh Shokeen

Ch. Brijendra Singh (Sheokand) is an Ex-Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from Hisar constituency of Haryana. He won the election in May 2019 as a BJP candidate. He was previously an IAS officer (1998 Batch) in Haryana, for 21 years.

Ch. Brijendra Singh is the son of Chaudhary Birender Singh Sheokand, former Union Minister. His mother Prem Lata was earlier a member of the legislative assembly (MLA) in Haryana representing, Uchana Kalan constituency.

Since Brijendra Singh could not get a ticket for assembly elections, he resigned from BJP and joined Congress party which gave him a ticket from Uchana Kalan constituency. In this contest, BJP candidate Devendra Atri got 48,968 votes while Brijendra Singh got 48,936 votes (i.e. he lost the election by a margin of only 32 votes)!
