Chaundhe (चौंधे) is a historical village in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra.

History

Ahilyabai was born on 31 May 1725 in the village of Chaundi, in the present-day Ahmednagar district in Maharashtra. Her father, Mankoji Rao Shinde, was the Patil of the village. Ahilyabai was born in the village of Chondi in Jamkhed, Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. She moved the capital to Maheshwar south of Indore on the Narmada River.


Naganath temple at Aundha: Aundha is a village in the Hingoli taluq of Parbhani district and can be approached from Chondi — a station on the Purna-Hingoli railway, Aundha lying only eight miles from there. [1]

चौंधे

विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[2] ने लेख किया है ...चौंधे (जिला अहमदनगर) (AS, p.346) महाराष्ट्र की प्रसिद्ध रानी अहल्याबाई होल्कर का जन्म स्थान. इनके पिताजी मनकोजी सिंधिया इस ग्राम के पटेल थे.
