Karan Kharb
Col Karan Kharb is an Indian writer of the best seller books.
Early life
Born at Mundhela Kalan (Najafgarh, New Delhi), Karan Kharb grew up in the backdrop of green fields of rural Delhi in an Arya Samaji family. His father, popularly known as Vaanprasthiji, was socially active and closely associated with Gurukuls. Naturally, Karan was exposed to the Vedic thought and culture early in life. Having accredited himself with Distinction in Sanskrit at School, he retains his love for ancient Indian thought and culture and draws inspiration from the Veda's, Upanishads, the Gita and other Epics to this day. His inheritance naturally adds flavour and value to his writings.
Trainer and Motivator
Soon after retirement, Col Kharb established Turning Point India at Noida where he imparted Personality Development training to the young Executives and collegians. He soon caught attention of corporate bigwigs and some very prestigious Training Institutes where he has conduced Workshops on Leadership and Management. A favourite of several institutes and organisations, he has addressed various seminars including some very eminent groups from time to time. His lecture on ‘Leadership and the Gita – The currency of the Great Epic Today’ drew applause and admiration at the International Seminar on Construction Economics and Management held in New Delhi. (Mar 3-5, 2003) where he was specifically invited as a Speaker. His articles on personality development, leadership and human behaviour have been published in a number of newspapers and magazines. He has been recently assigned to write History of the Bihar Regiment. His concepts and programmes were well reported by Doordarshan and Aaj Tak as well as in a respectable section of the print media where he was hailed among the leading ‘Motivational Gurus – Catalysts of Change’ in modern India (Life Positive – Oct, 2001).
Military leadership
His leadership style became an example to some, envy to others when 21st Battalion of the Bihar Regiment under his command was adjudged as the Best all-round Battalion in the entire Infantry Division of the Army. His writings were published in prestigious Military Magazines such as Combat Journal and The Infantry. Having participated in many high-risk missions as part of the Elite NSG (Black Cat Commandos), he authored some very significant operational concepts including hostage rescue operations. Although he took premature retirement from the Army in 1999, he attributes his learning, grooming, even post-retirement achievements, health and happiness to the Indian Army!
Social work
His expertise was sought by a number of NGOs involved in training and development. He condescended to the ministerial offer of establishing Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) in Kutch (Gujarat). As a Director of JSS Kutch, he established Vocational Training Centres in a speedy and innovative way – an accomplishment that was lauded by all including the Central Govt (HRD Ministry).
NGO launched
His long felt need and dream for sustained and holistic developmental framework to benefit all cross-sections of the society took concrete shape when he transformed his training institute Turning Point India into an NGO which is already registered and activities in the areas like personal effectiveness, literacy programmes, skill development and vocational training programmes are already on.
Author of bestsellers
For his first book Made to Lead, released by Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, the Vice President, he was honoured by the President of India Shri APJ Abdul Kalam at the Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. His second book Lead to Succeed much like the first one, has been rated as 4-Star bestseller in Indiatimes rating of international bestsellers. Widely reviewed, commented and recommended by distinguished persons like General JJ Singh, the Chief of the Army Staff, these books were accorded a prestigious place in the International Book Fares at Frankfurt and London.
