Dhavaleshwar (धवलेश्वर) or (Dhavaleshvar): The phallic god Dhabeleswar stands on an islet on the middle of river Mahanadi at a distance of 5km from the Cuttack.

Origin
History
According to Dr Naval Viyogi, It seems from the evidence of Puri Kushan coins that some branch Tanka of Taka royal family owing to attack of Kushanas up to Magadha, reached Mayurbhanj, Singhbhumi, Ganjam and Balasore and established colonies there, where remains of their offshoot, the royal family of Dhavaldev is still existing at Dalbhumigarh near Kharagpur. [1]
Legend
Legend says, to save a devotee from disaster, the God had turned a black bullock into white. On the full moon day of the month of Kartika, countless devotees assemble and observe Bada Osa and have a sight of the God. The Shiva Temple, perched on a hillock, is approachable by steps, one from the north and other one from the south. As a religious center, Dhavaleswar throngs with religious activities throughout the year. It is 37 km by road from Cuttack and 5 km through water.

धवलेश्वर
उड़ीसा में महानदी के किनारे कटक से 37 किमी दूर शिव का धवलेश्वर[2] नाम का एक बड़ा मंदिर है। डॉ नवल वियोगी [3] के अनुसार धवलदेव के शासन के अवशेष धलभूमगढ़ (पश्चिम बंगाल/झारखंड) और खड़गपुर (पश्चिम बंगाल) में देखे जा सकते हैं। धलभूमगढ़ वस्तुतः धवल या धौल्या लोगों की भूमि के रूप में प्रयोग किया गया है। वहाँ की परंपरा के अनुसार स्थानीय राजा जगन्नाथदेव से धोलपुर (राजस्थान) के राजा द्वारा कब्जा कर लिया गया था।
