विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर ने लेख किया है ... गुणीर (जिला फ़तहपुर, उ.प्र.) (AS, p.291) गंगा के किनारे एक टीले पर बसा हुआ एक छोटा सा ग्राम है किंतु आसपास के विस्तृत खंडहरों से विदित होता है कि यह स्थान प्राचीन काल में बहुत संपन्न रहा होगा. हाल ही में, तुलसीदास के समकालीन संत कवि लक्षदास की पुरानी जीर्ण-शीर्ण कुटी का यहां पता लगा है. लोक वार्ता के अनुसार गोस्वामी तुलसीदास लक्षदास से मिलने गुणीर आए थे. लक्षदास कृष्णायन नामक काव्य के रचयिता थे. यह ग्रंथ अभी हाल में प्रकाश में आया है.
