History

Lake Urmia, salt lake in northwestern Iran between the provinces of East Azarbaijan and West Azarbaijan, has 102 islands. Jowzar is one of the islands which probably is same as Jhojhar. This indicates its Central Asian origin.

Jhojhar named village is situated in Jahazpur or Jahajpur tahsil in Bhilwara District in Rajasthan. Jahajpur (जहाजपुर) is an ancient village.
