Khirkiya (खिड़किया) /खिरकिया) is a town and a nagar panchayat in Harda district in Madhya Pradesh.

Location

Khirkiya is located on Harda - Khandwa Road near the border of Harda district. Khirkiya has a broad gauge railway connectivity on the Itarsi - Khandwa line and falls in the West Central Railway Zone under Bhopal Division of railways.

History

Khirkiya was formed by the fusion of two villages, Khirkiya and Chipabad, in 1987. Khirkiya also known as Gateway of Nimar because Nimad region starts from this town. Indira Sagar back water is only 10 kilometers away from town. Khirkiya became major town when Harsud sank due to flooding from Indira Sagar Dam.

Khirkiya grain market is one of the biggest grain markets in Madhya Pradesh and also has record production and selling of grains.

खिरकिया

खिरकिया भारत के मध्य प्रदेश राज्य के हरदा ज़िले में स्थित एक नगर है। यहां के नवरात्रि पूरे देश शहरों में फेमस है और खिरकिया तहसील हैं| खिरकिया अनाज मंडी सोयाबीन गेहूं मूंग की सबसे बड़ी अनाज मंडियों में से एक है और इसमें अनाज का रिकॉर्ड उत्पादन और बिक्री भी होती है। खिरकिया का नवरात्रि त्योहार पूरे देश में बहुत प्रसिद्ध है, इतने सारे सुंदर पंडाल (जिस स्थान पर दुर्गा प्रतिमा स्थापित की जाती है) को समिति (समुदाय) द्वारा बनाया जाता है। दर्जनों स्थानों पर दुर्गा प्रतिमाएं स्थापित की जाती हैं, जो पूरे शहर की खूबसूरती को बढ़ाती हैं। उल्लेखनीय है कि यहां के पंडालों की भव्यता देखते ही बनती है। शहर के पंडालों को भव्य मंदिरों और राजमहल का लुक दिया जाता है। जिसका सौंदर्य देखते ही बनता है। नवरात्र के दिनों में आसपास के शहरों से बड़ी संख्या में दर्शक केवल पंडालों की भव्यता देखने आते हैं। शहर में वर्तमान में एक दर्जन से भी अधिक स्थानों पर नवदुर्गा का सार्वजनिक महोत्सव मनाया जाता है। लगभग एक दर्जन से ज्यादा स्थानों पर पंडाल बनाकर देवी मां की प्रतिमा स्थापित की जाती है। यहां नवदुर्गा के सार्वजनिक उत्सव का इतिहास छह दशक पुराना है| खिरकिया में अन्नपुर्णा मंदिर, गौमुख मंदिर, संकट मोचन हनुमान मंदिर, बालाजी मंदिर, नर्मदेश्वर महादेव मंदिर, रामदेव जी का मंदिर, सिंगाजी महाराज का मंदिर स्थित हैं।यहां का दुर्गा विसर्जन और दशहरा भी प्रसिद्ध है।यहां के नीलकंठेश्वर महादेव मंदिर (मढ़ी) में नर्मदा परिक्रमा वासियो को विश्राम एवं भोजन की व्यवस्था की गई है खिरकिया नर्मदा परिक्रमा के पथ पर पड़ने वाला एक प्रमुख कस्बा है।
