Kintoor (किंत्तूर) is a village in Barabanki district famous for battle of Kintoor of 1858 during the Indian Mutiny.[1][2]

History
Parijaat tree a sacred baobab tree in the village of Kintoor on the banks of Ghaghra.[3] Located near the Kunteshwar Mahadeva temple (established by Kunti), the tree is said to grow from Kunti's ashes.[4] The tree is very old.[5]
The Battle of Kintoor was a conflict between rebel sepoys and troops East India Company and Kapurthala State on 6 October 1858 during Indian Mutiny.[6][7][8]
During 1869 census of Oudh, Kintoor was designated as one of the total thirteen large towns or kasbahs and Inspector of Police of Ram Nagar was appointed here on the night of census.[9]

विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[10] ने लेख किया है ...1. कित्तूर (AS, p.188) जिला बाराबंकी (उत्तर प्रदेश) में पूर्वोत्तर रेल के बुढवल स्टेशन से प्राय: 7 मील पर कित्तूर ग्राम है [p.189]: इसका प्राचीन नाम कुंतीनगर बताया जाता है. स्थानीय किंवदंती है कि प्रथम बनवास के समय कुंती के साथ पांडव यहां आकर कुछ दिन रहे थे. यह भी कथा है कि श्री कृष्ण के परमधाम चले जाने के पश्चात अर्जुन ने द्वारका से लाकर एक पारिजात वृक्ष यहां लगाया था. पारिजात का एक बड़ा प्राचीन एवं अनोखा वृक्ष अभी तक है.
2. कित्तूर (AS, p.189) (मैसूर) प्राचीन पुन्नाडू की राजधानी कीर्तिपुर का वर्तमान नाम. यह कपिनी (कावेरी की सहायक नदी) के तट पर मैसूर के दक्षिण पश्चिम में स्थित है.
