Kudal (कुडाल) is a town in Sindhudurg district, Maharashtra, India.

Location
Kudal is located at almost 16.9 km far from its district headquarters Oros and is just 474 km away from the capital city of the state, Mumbai by road (Mumbai-Goa highway NH-17 old numbering). It is situated on Karli River in southwest Maharashtra. Kudal is the fourth largest town in Sindhudurg after Sawantwadi, Malvan and Kankavli. Kudal railway station is located on the Konkan Railway route and connects the town with Mumbai on the north and Mangalore on the south. It is a major stop for the Konkan Railway with many trains having a halt. National Highway 66 passes through Kudal. Kudal is situated in centre of the Sindhudurg district and also considered as one of the fastest growing towns in the region.
History
Some of the prominent attractions in the town include the Rangana Garh Fort, Shree Devi Laxmi Mandir, Deo Dongar Machhindranath Mandir, Shree Dev Bhairav Temple, Sateri devi mandir, The Shree Maruti Mandir, Shree Devi Bhavani Mandir, Ghodebao,College of Horticulture Mulde - Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth in Mulde.
कुडाल
विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[1] ने लेख किया है ...कुडाल (महाराष्ट्र) (AS, p.200): सावंतवाडी 13 मील उत्तर की ओर काली नदी के तट पर स्थित है. इस स्थान पर 1663 ई. में महाराष्ट्र-केसरी शिवाजी कथा बीजापुर के सुल्तान आदिलशाह की सेना में, जिसका नायक खवासखां था, घोर युद्ध हुआ था. खवासखां हारकर लौट गया. शिवाजी के समकालीन कविवर भूषण ने 'उमडि कुडाल में खवासखां आए भनि भूषण त्यों धाए शिवराज पूरे मन के' [पृ.201] (शिवराज भूषण छंद 330)-- इस छंद में इस घटना का वर्णन किया है. इस लड़ाई के प्रसाद बीजापुर के सहायक तथा कुड़ाल के जागीरदार लक्ष्मण सावंत देसाई को भी शिवाजी ने परास्त कर भगा दिया और कुडाल पर उनका पूर्ण अधिकार हो गया.
