Longewala (लोंगेवाला) is a Village in Jaisalmer district in Rajasthan.

Location

Longewala is a border town in the Thar Desert in the western part of Jaisalmer district, in the state of Rajasthan, India. It is very close to the border with Pakistan.

History

Longewala is most notable as the location of the Battle of Longewala during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.

Longewala War Museum: In Longwala War Museum [1], You may see fighter jets, weapons, tanks, etc used in the war. There is a 20 mins clip which is shown to people who visit the museum. Longewala War Museum was a wonderful and nice experience. If you are interested in knowing about wars or just support the army, Air force & navy, Then it is a great place to visit.

Jaisalmer War Museum: Jaisalmer War Museum is also called as JWM. Jaisalmer War Museum was constructed in the Military station in order to honor the soldiers of the Battle of Longewala. The Battle of Longewala was fought in the year 1971. The Place also involves mural of soldiers who lost their lives at the time of the war.
