Fascinated by Hindi films, this innocent looking gal moved to Mumbai to pursue her goal to be an actress. Before stepping into filmdom, she modelled and performed dance shows in various countries. Debuting with the Telugu movie 'Neetho' (2002), Mahek joined Kishore Namit's acting school in Mumbai and then made her entry into Bollywood with the flick 'Nayee Padosan' (2003) followed by 'Anjaan' (2005). She speaks Norwegian, and also “think in Norwegian”. She studied in a Norwegian-medium school. She had been doing modeling and dance shows in various countries around the world before she gave Bollywood a shot.

Mahek’s linguistic shortcoming became a problem when she was considered for a role in Ajnabee. However, she was able to get a Telugu movie titled Neetho, but the director had to get her dialogues dubbed.

Mahek quickly learned from her shortcomings and joined Kishore Namit's acting school in Mumbai, which has groomed newcomers Hrithik Roshan and former beauty queens Priyanka Chopra and Dia Mirza.
