Mohana Singh

Mohana Singh (Jitarwal) from Khatehpura in Jhunjhunu district, Rajasthan along with Avani Chaturvedi and Bhawana Kanth is the first woman fighter pilot inducted in Indian Air Force on 18 June 2016.

Her family

Mohana’s father is presently serving IAF as warrant officer . Her grand father Ladu Ram Jat (Jitarwal) was a flight gunner in the Aviation Research Centre and is recipient of Vira Chakra Award in 1948 Indo-Pak War. Their family earlier lived in village Papda but now is settled at Khatehpura in Jhunjhunu district, Rajasthan.

A historic event

In a historic event, for the first time women combat pilots were inducted in the Indian Air Force on Saturday with defence minister Manohar Parrikar commissioning Mohana Singh, Bhawana Kanth and Avani Chaturvedi. The trio's commissioning at an elaborate Combined Graduation Parade ceremony at the Air Force Academy in Dundigal, which was witnessed as many as 93 pilots and seven navigators, among others, being awarded their wings, was met with great applause. Parrikar described the trio's induction as a "red letter day" and said his ministry was working towards bringing about "total gender parity" in the armed forces.

Education

Mohana Singh completed her graduation in Amritsar. The Global Institute of Management and Emerging Technologies, Amritsar, applauded the distinguished alumna for inspiring hundreds of young women in the nation “to aim high, work diligently and achieve glory”.

Mohana pursued B.Tech. in electronics and communication engineering at the institute and graduated with 83.7% marks in 2013. She joined the institute while her father, Pratap Singh, was posted here. In a special note felicitating Mohana, the institute has written: “Mohana, you are now a distinguished fighter pilot of the country and your story inspires many. You are a woman of substance, who has shown by action that anything and everything is possible, especially for a determined woman... We feel that you are our ‘Kalpana Chawla’...”

जिला पापड़ा गांव के जाटाहाला ढाणी के वीर चक्र लांस नायक लादूराम जाट की पोती मोहनासिंह के एयरफोर्स की फाइटर स्ट्रीम में शामिल होकर लड़ाकू विमान उड़ाने वाली पहली महिला बनने पर तमाम देश वासियों व जाट कौम की तरफ से हार्दिक बधाई व शुभकामनाएं।

सैन्य परिवार की बेटी द्वारा नया इतिहास रचने पर परिजनों में खुशी का माहौल है। परिवार के लोगों ने शनिवार को मिठाई बांटकर खुशियां मनाई।

देश के लिए शहीद हुए थे इनके दादा :

- बता दें कि मोहना के पिता प्रताप सिंह भी एयरफोर्स में जॉब करते हैं। - इनके दादा लादूराम सेना में लासं नायक थे। - 1948 में पाकिस्तान के साथ हुए युद्ध में लादूराम जाट शहीद हो गए थे। - उन्हें वीर चक्र से सम्मानित किया गया था। - मोहना के दादा के नाम पर उनके गांव पापड़ा में स्कूल का नाम भी रखा गया था। - लादूराम की याद में पापड़ा गांव के राप्रावि का नामकरण वीर चक्र लांस नायक लादुराम राप्रावि किया गया। - लेकिन, दो साल पहले सरकार ने समानीकरण के नाम पर स्कूल को बंद कर दिया था। - ग्रामीणों ने स्कूल को यथावत रखने के लिए पंस सदस्य मनीता सोनी के नेतृत्व में विरोध प्रर्दशन कर शिक्षा विभाग को ज्ञापन भी दिया था। - लेकिन, सरकार ने कोई सुनवाई नहीं की। - वर्तमान में ये स्कूल रामावि के अधीन चल रही है।

खतेहपुरा में ताऊ-ताई ने बांटी मिठाई : - मोहना की इस उपलब्धि पर खतेहपुरा में रहने वाले उसके ताऊ-ताई ने परिजनों एवं पड़ोसियों को मिठाई खिलाकर खुशियां मनाई। - दिनभर मोहनासिंह के घर पर बधाई देने के लिए आने वालों का तांता लगा रहा। - ताऊ सरदारसिंह ने बताया कि एक साल पहले उनके बेटे की शादी में मोहना खतेहपुरा आई थी। - हालांकि कुछ घंटे बाद ही वह वापस चली गई थी। वे मोहना से मिलने जाएंगे।

इतने साल पहले पापड़ा गांव को छोड़ा था : - बता दें कि मोहना सिंह का परिवार करीब 20 वर्ष पहले यहां से झुंझुनूं के नजदीकी गांव खतेहपुरा में जाकर बस गया। तब से वहीं रह रहे हैं। - गांव की बुजुर्ग महिला सुंदरी देवी ने बताया कि परिवार में शादी व आवश्यक काम होने पर ही वे पापड़ा आते हैं। - अब उनकी पुरानी हवेली में काेई भी नहीं रहता है। - लादुराम के चार भाई बीरबल, भगवानाराम, नारूराम थे। - उनके बेटे रामप्रताप के मोहना सिंह व नन्दनी दो लड़कियां हैं। - इस मौके पर जगदीश जितरवाल, अजीतसिंह, गीता देवी, सरोज, झिमकोरी, सुमित्रा, मंजू, ममता, सुनिता, रोशनी आदि मौजूद थे। ......
