Pannun (पन्नून) [1] Pannun (पंनून)[2] jat gotra is found in Punjab, India and Pakistan.
Origin
History
Distribution in Punjab
Population of the Pannun gotra is 14,196 in Amritsar district. This clan appears to have spread from the Doaba area of the modern Punjab and owns 7 large villages including Naushera and Chaudriwala. [3] In Firozpur district the Pannun population is 330. [4]
Distribution in Pakistan
Pannun - The Pannun claim Suryavanshi Rajput ancestry. They are found mainly in Lahore, Kasur, Gujranwala and Sialkot districts. Prior to partition, they were also found in Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Firozpur.
According to 1911 census the Pannun were the principal Muslim Jat clan in districts:
- Sialkot District - Pannun (357)
- Lahore District - Pannun (7)
- Amritsar District - Pannun (91)
- Gurdaspur District - Pannun (107)
- Bahawalpur State - Pannun (914)
