Parvesh Verma
Parvesh Sahib Singh aka Parvesh Verma aka Parvesh Lakra (b: 07 Nov 1977) politician and a minister of Delhi [1] since 20 February 2025 and is a member of the Delhi Legislative Assembly from the New Delhi Assembly constituency.
Career
He was Member of parliament (MP) in Lok Sabha representing West Delhi.[2] He served two terms as an MP for a period of 10 years from 2014 to 2024. In 2014, he was first elected to the 16th Lok Sabha and re-elected in 2019 for the 17th Lok Sabha with the highest-ever margin of victory in the history of Delhi, a margin of 578,486 votes. He won the 2025 assembly election from New Delhi against Arvind Kejriwal,[3] former Chief Minister of Delhi.[4]
He contested the Mehrauli Vidhan Sabha constituency in the 2013 assembly election and defeated Yoganand Shastri. Parvesh Verma is the son of Sahib Singh Verma, former Chief Minister of Delhi.[5]
Education
Verma studied at Delhi Public School, R. K. Puram and Kirori Mal College.[6] He received his Master of Business Administration from the Fore School of Management Qutub Institutional Area, New Delhi in 1999.[7] His uncle Azad Singh Verma was the mayor of North Delhi Municipal Corporation and contested Mundka Vidhan Sabha Constituency on the BJP ticket in the 2013 assembly election.[8]
His family
He is Son of Late Sahib Singh Verma, former Chief Minister of Delhi. Pravesh is of Lakra clan from Mundka. His sister Rachna is married to Capt Abhimanyu's brother, Dev Suman. Pravesh is married to Swati Singh, daughter of Shri Vikram Verma, politician from Madhya Pradesh.
Earlier, he had been a member of Delhi Legislative Assembly.
Social And Cultural Activities
He runs two N.G.Os. namely:- Rashtriya Swabhiman and Gramin Swabhiman. Rehabilitated two villages in Kutch of Gujarat after earth quake in 2000 and four villages in Odisha after cyclone. Honoured families of 260 martyrs of Kargil War by way of giving Honourium of 1 Lakh to each family. Poor girl marriages, literacy programmes and sports events are other initiatives
