Bahuda (बाहुदा नदी) is a river mentioned in Mahabharata. It is probably name of Ramganga River which flows to south west from Kumaun Himalaya.

Bahuda (बाहुदा) (T/R) mentioned in Mahabharata (III.82.60), (III.85.21), (VI.10.13)

Vana Parva, Mahabharata/Book III Chapter 82 mentions names Pilgrims . Bahuda (बाहुदा) (T/R) mentioned in Mahabharata (III.82.60).[1].... Journeying to the Saraswati (सरस्वती) (III.82.59), one should offer oblations unto the gods and the Pitris. By this, one certainly enjoyeth bliss in the regions called Saraswata. Then should one wend to Bahuda (बाहुदा) (III.82.60) , with subdued soul and observing the Brahmacharya vow. Residing there for one night, one becometh adored in heaven, and obtaineth also, O Kaurava, the merit of the Devasatra sacrifice.


Vana Parva, Mahabharata/Book III Chapter 85 mentions sacred asylums, tirthas, mountans and regions of eastern country. Bahuda (बाहुदा) (T/R) mentioned in Mahabharata (III.85.21).[2]....And there also is the mountain called Kundoda (कुण्डॊद) (III.85.20), which is so delightful and abounding in fruits and roots and waters, and where the king of the Nishadhas (निषध) (III.85.20) (Nala) had slaked his thirst and rested for a while. In that quarter also is the delightful Deva-vana (देव वन) (III.85.21) which is graced by ascetics. There also are the rivers Bahuda River (बाहुदा) (III.85.21) and Nanda River (नन्दा) (III.85.21) on the mountain's crest.


Bhisma Parva, Mahabharata/Book VI Chapter 10 describes geography and provinces of Bharatavarsha. Bahuda (बाहुदा) (River) mentioned in Mahabharata (VI.10.13). [3]...O Kauravya, and many races, O lord, mixed of the two elements, drink the waters of the following rivers, viz., magnificent Ganga, Sindhu, and Saraswati; of Godavari, and Narmada, Bahuda, Mahanadi; ....

बाहुदा नदी

विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[4] ने लेख किया है .....बाहुदा नदी (AS, p.626): महाभारत में उल्लिखित नदी. 'ततश्च बाहुदां गच्छेद् ब्रह्मचारी समाहित: तत्रोष्य रजनीमेकां स्वर्गलोके महीयते'-- वन पर्व 84, 67. 'बाहुदायां महीपाल चक्रु: सर्वेभिषेचनम्, प्रयागे देवयजने देवानां पृथिवीपते,'वन पर्व 85,4. महाभारत शांति पर्व 22 के अनुसार लिखित ऋषि का कटा बाहु इस नदी में स्नान करने से ठीक हो गया था जिससे इसका नाम बहुदा हुआ. 'स गत्वा द्विज शार्दूलो हिमवन्तं महगिरिम्, अभ्यगच्छन्नदीं पुण्यां बाहुदां धर्मशालिनीम्'. अनुशासन पर 19,28 से ज्ञात होता है कि यह नदी हिमालय से निकलती थी. यह शायद उत्तर भारत की रामगंगा है. अमरकोश में बाहुदा को सैतवाहिनी भी कहा गया है.

सैतवाहिनी

सैतवाहिनी (AS, p.986). 'करतोय सदानीरा बाहुदा सैतवाहिनी'- अमरकोश 1,10,33. इस उल्लेख में संभवतः सैतवाहिनी को बाहुदा नदी का ही पर्याय बताया गया है. (देखें बाहुदा नदी)[5]
