Sarila

Sarila (सरीला) is a town and a former princely state in Hamirpur district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

History
Maharaja Chhatrasal conquered the area now known as Bundelkhand from the Mughals in the 17th century. One of his grandsons, Raja Pahar Singh of Jaitpur, received Sarila, built Sarila fortress and in 1755 founded the princely state covering 91 km2. In 1807 Sarila accepted a British protectorate and became a non-salute state under the colonial Bundelkhand Agency. It had a population of 6,298 in 1901 and a state revenue of 59,147 Rupees. The privy purse would be fixed at 18,650 Rupees. The state ceased to exist on 1 January 1950 by accession to Madhya Pradesh.
Ruling Rajas: The rulers bore the title of 'Raja'.

सरीला (बुंदेलखंड)
सरीला (AS, p.943): बुंदेलखंड में अंग्रेज़ी शासन काल के अन्त तक एक छोटी-सी रियासत थी। महाराज छत्रसाल के पौत्र पहाड़सिंह को विरासत में जैतपुर का राज्य मिला था। पहाड़सिंह के पुत्र गजसिंह ने जैतपुर की रियासत में से सरीला अपने भाई अमानसिंह को जागीर में दिया था। कालांतर में सरीला स्वतंत्र रियासत स्थापित हो गई थी। [1]
