History

At Shivrajpur, there is an ancient temple built by Chandel Raja Sati Prasad in memory of his queen. This temple was built in a day and is situated on the banks of river Ganges. This temple is famous for its beautiful architectural work and its unique carving design. The described historical temple is very famous all over Kanpur and its name is Khereshwar temple. Near to this temple one temple of Mahakal is also very famous.

श्योराजपुर

विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर ने लेख किया है .....श्योराजपुर (AS, p.914) जिला कानपुर, उ.प्र. से हाल ही में उत्तर प्रदेश की सर्वप्राचीन मूर्तिकला के उदाहरण मिले हैं। ये ताम्र निर्मित मानवकृतियां हैं जो ताम्रपाषाणयुगीन (लगभग 3000 वर्ष प्राचीन) हैं। ताम्रपाषाणयुगीन सिंधु घाटी सभ्यता का समकालीन माना जाता है। नई खोजों से सिद्ध होता है कि सिंधु घाटी सभ्यता केवल सिंध पंजाब तक ही सीमित नहीं थी, किंतु उसका प्रसार समस्त उत्तर भारत, राजस्थान और गुजरात तक था। उत्तर प्रदेश में इसके अवशेष बहादराबाद (हरिद्वार के निकट) में भी मिले हैं।
