Sultan Singh Gahlot
Ch. Sultan Singh (b: 19-9-1923; d: 16-12-2014) (Gahlot) son of Chaudhari Tek Chand Gahlot was born at Nizampur Mazra village in Rohtak district (Haryana) on September 19, 1923. This village is now part of Sonipat district (Tahsil - Kharkhoda), married to Shrimati Dhan Kaur
He joined the Army where he developed links with revolutionaries. He left the Army and went to Kolkata to participate in India's freedom struggle.
He came in contact with certain Congress leaders and joined the party. After India attained Independence, he became a member of the Punjab Legislative Council and later, the Member of Rajya Sabha (three times). He also remained president of the Haryana Congress from 1978 and 1986.
He later served as the Governor of Tripura for a short period (12-7-1989 to 11-2-1990). His wife Dhan Kaur was from village Nizampur Khurd also called as Garhi Kundal in Sonipat was sister of Gayatri Devi. Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh was his brother-in-law

Death
Ch. Sultan Singh died at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi on 16 December 2014, at the age of 91 years. He was survived by two sons and three daughters.
