Vamadeva

Vamadeva (वामदेव) refers to the name of a place mentioned in the Mahābhārata (cf. II.24.10). It was subjugated by Arjuna in his victory march. It was probably located in Kullu area of Himachal Pradesh.

Vamadeva (वामदेव) in Mahabharata (II.24.10),
Sabha Parva, Mahabharata/Book II Chapter 24 mentions countries subjugated by Arjuna that lay to the North. Vamadeva (वामदेव) is mentioned in Mahabharata (II.24.10). [1]....After this he subjugated Modapura, Vamadeva, Sudaman, Susankula, the Northern Kulutas, and the kings of those countries and peoples.
वामदेव
वामदेव (AS, p.840): एक प्राचीन स्थान जिसका उल्लेख महाभारत, सभापर्व 27, 11 में हुआ है- 'मोदापुरं वामदेवं सुदामानं सुसंकुलम्, उलूकानुत्तरांश्चैव तांश्च राज्ञः समानयत्। पाण्डव अर्जुन ने अनेक पर्वतीय देशों के साथ वामदेव पर भी अपनी दिग्विजय यात्रा में विजय प्राप्त की थी। उपरोक्त प्रसंग से यह स्थान कुल्लू के पहाड़ी प्रदेश के अन्तर्गत जान पड़ता है। [2]
