Varcha (वर्च) was a King in Mahabharata and name of a Country mentioned by Panini as Varchagata.

Varchagata (वर्चगत), also Garta (गर्त), Varcha Garta (वर्चगर्त), Varchagarbha (वर्चगर्भ), Varja (वर्ज), is name of a Country mentioned by Panini in Ashtadhyayi under Dhumadi (धूमादि) (4.2.127) group.[1]

List of Mahabharata people and places includes Varcha (वर्च) (I.60.21), (I.61.86).


Adi Parva, Mahabharata/Book I Chapter 60 gives the genealogy of all the principal creatures: Varcha (वर्च) is mentioned in verse (I.60.21). [2]....And Soma's son is the resplendent Varchas. And Varchas begot upon his wife Manohara three sons--Sisira, and Ramana.


Adi Parva, Mahabharata/Book I Chapter 61 provides the Genealogy of the Danavas, Asuras, Kauravas, Pandavas, Gandharvas, Apsaras, Rakshasas: Varcha (वर्च) is mentioned in verse (I.61.86). [3].... And he who was known as the mighty Varchas, the son of Soma, became Abhimanyu of wonderful deeds, the son of Arjuna (incarnation).
