Vrindataka

Vrindataka (वृण्डाटक) is a city mentioned in Mahabharata which was subjugated by Nakula on his victory march to the west.

History
The Uttarajyotika seems to have been the same as Landikotala, Vrindataka as Burindu and Attuck and Dvarpala as the Khybar.[1]
It is believed by scholars that in ancient times as well the Grand Route crossed the Indus at Attock though in the Mahabharatan Vrindataka which could be identified with Attock situated in that region.[2]

Vrindataka (वृण्डाटक पुरम) (City) is mentioned in Mahabharata (II.29.10)
Sabha Parva, Mahabharata/Book II Chapter 29 mentions the Countries subjugated by Nakula in West. Vrindataka (वृण्डाटक पुरम) (City) is mentioned in Mahabharata (II.29.10). [3]....And the illustrious hero (Nakula) soon brought under subjection the mighty Gramaniya that dwelt on the shore of the sea, and the Sudras and the Abhiras that dwelt on the banks of the Saraswati, and all those tribes that lived upon fisheries, and those also that dwelt on the mountains, and the whole of the country called after the five rivers (Panchanada), and the mountains called Amara, and the country called Uttarayotisha and the city of Vrindataka and the tribe called Dwarapala.
वृंद = वृंदारक
विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[4] ने लेख किया है ... वृंदारक अथवा 'वृंद' (AS, p.868) नामक एक प्राचीन स्थान का उल्लेख महाभारत, सभापर्व 32,11 में हुआ है। महाभारत, सभापर्व के एक पाठ के अनुसार वृंदारक पर नकुल ने अपनी पश्चिमी दिशा की दिग्विजय के प्रसंग में अधिकार प्राप्त कर लिया था। इतिहासकार वासुदेव शरण अग्रवाल के मत में वृंदारक या वृंद वर्तमान अटक, पाकिस्तान के निकट 'बुरिंदुबुनेर' नामक स्थान है। इस स्थान के आगे द्वारपाल या (सम्भवत:) ख़ैबर का उल्लेख है।
