Dhiman (धीमान), Dhaman (धमान), Dhimann (धीमन) is an ancient gotra of Jats found in Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. They are found in many other communities like Rajputs, Brahmans, etc.
Origin
Dhiman (धीमान) is also a name of Shiva.
History
They are Shiva Vanshi.
In Mahabharata
Sabha Parva, Mahabharata/Book II Chapter 28 mentions the list of Kings subjugated by Sahadeva towards the southern direction. Dhimans are mentioned in verse Mahabharata (II.28.50) [1]
Shalya Parva, Mahabharata/Book IX Chapter 44 mentions The ceremony for investing Kartikeya with the status of generalissimo. Dhimans are mentioned in verse Mahabharata(IX.44.5). [2]
Dhiman is also the name of an ancient king born in the ancestry of Brahma, in early Vedic civilisation.
