Hamta (हामटा) is a Village in Naggar Tehsil of Kullu district in Himachal Pradesh. It is located 37 km towards North from District head quarters Kullu below Sethan village, 6 km from Manali. Hamta Pass lies at an altitude of 14039 ft on the Pir Panjal range in the Himalayas. It is a small corridor between Lahaul's Chandra Valley and the Kullu valley of Himachal Pradesh, India.

Location
Sethan is a small Village/hamlet in Naggar Tehsil in Kullu District of Himachal Pradesh State, India. It comes under Prini Panchayath. It is located 37 KM towards North from District head quarters Kullu, 15 KM from Naggar. 147 KM from State capital Shimla. Sethan Pin code is 175136 and postal head office is Haripur (Kullu). Vashisht ( 4 KM ) , Manali (6 KM) , Nasogi ( 6 KM ) , Gojra ( 7 KM ) , Karjan ( 10 KM ) are the nearby Villages to Sethan. [1]
Sethan village is located approximately at a 45-minute drive from Manali. From Sethan village, one can see the towering Dhauladhar ranges. River Beas flowing right next to it divides Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal where Hamta Valley is located. [2]

विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर [3] ने लेख किया है ....हामटा (AS, p.1019): हिमाचल प्रदेश में जगतमुख से कुछ दूर स्थित है। इसका प्राचीन नाम हेमगिरि कहा जाता है। अर्जुन गुफा जो पहाड़ी में है, अर्जुन से सम्बद्ध बतायी जाती है। इसमें अर्जुन की मूर्ति देखी जा सकती है। संभव है उत्तर दिशा में दिग्विजय यात्रा के प्रसंग में अर्जुन यहां आये हों। कांगड़ा के अनेक देशों को उन्होंने विजित किया था। (दे. मोदापुर, वामदेव, सुदामा, कुलूत, पंचगण, देवप्रस्थ)
