19.10.1982: DarbhaTongpal 8-9.30 hrs by bus, TongpalBengpal 9.30 to 12 hrs on foot 12.5 km. Inspected TahakawadaBispur Road work. Returned 14.30-17 hrs on foot and then to Darbha by govt vehicle.

19.12.1982: Darbha-Bengpal and back 11.30-16 hrs with DFO (P) PS Panikar. Inspected Forest compartment 241. Many villagers were found engaged in illegal exploration of precious metal Tin along nalah. Felled about 50 trees over an area of about 2 ac in the process of digging. I was told that very influential people are involved in illegal mining of Tin metal. Darbha Range is main for this illegal exploration. Villagers dig mineral near rivers, clean it and sell to the influential persons who export it out of state. This illegal activity in forests needs an immediate check which is possible with sufficient force.

01.01.1983: Met DFO C/B NS Bhil, who instructed to consult CI Police and raid at the Tin mining site with police force in Bengpal. Along with CI and police team on Govt Vehicle MPZ-7484went to Mining site comp 241/224 in Bengpal forest area at about 17.15 hrs. Police force intentionally delayed the raid and by the time we reached site there was darkness in the forest and could not move into force. Villagers runaway to nearby forest area to hide. CI Police told that it is good to find no people on site otherwise they had to complete seizure formalities. Police was not at all interested to control mining. Returned to Darbha at 22 hrs.
