Bhitarwar (भितरवार) is a tahsil, village and site of Jat Fort in Gwalior District in Madhya Pradesh.

भितरवार किला जिला ग्वालियर का निर्माण वेराज शाह हंसेलिया गौत्र के जाट ने करवाया था। जो पार्वती नदी पर बना है। जिनके भाई लक्ष्मन सिंह ने लक्ष्मनगढ़ का निर्माण कराया । किले की बाहरी दीवारें आज भी शान से खड़ी हैं जबकि अन्दर से खंडहर हो चुकी हैं।किले में 5-5बुर्ज साथ साथ बने हैं।
Bhitarwar Fort
As you drive from Jhansi to Karera you drive on the Mumbai-Agra Road. For moving to Bhitarwar, one has to pass through the Karera town.
The Bhitarwar Fort was build by Jat King Laxman of Hanselia Gotra. It is one of the finest example of architecture, were in, there are about 5 bastions constructed one after the other. The outer walls of the fort remains intact, however inside is all ruins.
To settle the internal rifts, the Jats invited Scindias, who helped in capture of the fort. The fort came into permanent possession of Scindias after sometime and remained a Gwalior territory till independence.
