History

In Mahabharata

Chaityaka (चैत्यक) is in Mahabharata (II.19.2), (II.19.17)

Sabha Parva, Mahabharata/Book II Chapter 19 mentions that Krishna, Bhima and Arjuna attacked Girivraja to kill Jarasandha. Chaityaka hill (चैत्यक) is mentioned in Mahabharata (II.19.2). [3]....The five large hills of Vaihara, Varaha, Vrishabha, Rishigiri, and the delightful Chaityaka, all of high peaks and overgrown with tall trees of cool shade and connected with one another, seem to be jointly protecting the city of Girivraja.

Chaityaka (चैत्यक) is mentioned in Mahabharata (II.19.17). [4]...Krishna of the Vrishni race and the two Pandavas (Bhima and Arjuna) entered the city of Magadha. On arriving then at the gate of the city, the brothers (instead of passing through it) began to pierce (with their shafts) the heart of the high Chaityaka peak that was worshipped by the race of Brihadratha, as also by the citizens and which delighted the hearts of all the Magadhas. And the brothers broke down the Chaityaka peak that was delightful to all the Magadhas.
