Garcha (गर्चा)/Garcha (गारचा)[1] Garchi (गारची)[2][3][4] Garsa (गारसा)[5] is gotra of Punjabi Sikh Jats.

Origin

Garcha Jatts are a branch of Tomar Jats. They are believed to be originated from village Kohara, district Ludhiana, Punjab. Now, Garchas live all over the world in many countries, including other districts of Punjab and other states of India as well.

History

Garcha Jatts are a branch of Tomars. Tur Jatts are their kins. They are thought to have first ruled over Delhi in the 11th century, then settled in Firozpur area then later in Ludhiana area in around 12th century. Before moving to Panjab, plains of Jamuna river around Delhi was their home. Garcha, Sirhe, Nain, Chandarh, Dhanda, Kandhole and Khosa Jatts are close kins who are thought to have come from Turkistan (Scythian empire) in early history.

Their Jathera is in village Koharha in Ludhiana district. Dhandari Kalan, Dhandari Khurd, Shankar, Bilga, Jajja Khurd, Garcha are famous villages.
