Gumalwada is a small Village/hamlet in Jagdalpur Tehsil in Bastar District of Chattisgarh State, India. It comes under Gumalwada Panchayath. It is located 47 KM towards South from District head quarters Jagdalpur.Gumalwada Pin code is 494001 and postal head office is Jagdalpur . Kawapal ( 10 KM ) , Chhotekawali ( 11 KM ) , Nangur ( 12 KM ) , Hatpadmur ( 13 KM ) , Manjhiguda ( 14 KM ) are the nearby Villages to Gumalwada. History
Author (Laxman Burdak) visited Gumalwada on 21.02.1983 while undergoing training as IFS Probationer. Here is comment from official diary of that date:
21.02.1983: Jagdalpur – Tiriya, Stayed at Tiriya FRH upto 28.02.1983 along with wife Gomati Burdak and daughter Sunita (4 years). Objective to stay was to feel the forest life, learn about forestry operations, tribal life and their culture. CF Jagdalpur PM Rajware has instructed to lay out sample plots and conduct exercise to revise marking rules and fix norms for some forestry operations.
Tiriya – Forest and back (11.30 -18 hrs), 61 km govt veh 5 km foot in forest. Visited the Forest, went up to Gumalwara PF (गुमलवाडा) where there is a cave, inside which you can see stalactite and stalagmite formations. Villagers worship the Shivalinga inside the cave. One can see the outcrops of dolomite rocks in the dense forests. Forest is mainly miscellaneous forest including Sal, Saja, Dhawada, Sisam, Teak, Haldu, etc. Some Sal trees are dry, reason is unknown. There was a single large size teak tree fit for reservation. Semal trees are leafless and in flowering (pink and large flowers). Woodfordia floribunda is also in orange flowers and in plenty. Similarly, Indigofera paschela is also in plenty in young plantations in violet flowering. The new came coppery red leaves of Kusum trees look beautiful. Indigofera plants have come up as weed in areas where there was clear felling of sal trees in regular coupes.
पर्यटन स्थल
बस्तर संभाग में पुरातत्व अवशेषों के साथ ही कई ऐसे पर्यटन स्थल भी हैं, जिन तक लोगों की अब तक पहुंच नहीं बन पाई है। ऐसे ही छत्तीसगढ़ और ओडिशा की सीमा पर बसे गांव गुमलवाड़ा में एक गुफा मौजूद है। मान्यता है कि गांव में ग्रामीणों पर आने वाली विपत्तियों को इसी गुफा में बैठे भगवान शिव दूर करते हैं। यही कारण है कि ये गुफा ग्रामीणों के लिए आस्था का केंद्र है। बाकी दिनों के अलावा ग्रामीण यहां सावन के हर सोमवार को विशेष पूजा भी करते हैं। गुफा के अंदर शिवलिंगनुमा आकृति की ग्रामीण भगवान शंकर के रूप में पूजा करते हैं।
भू-विज्ञान विशेषज्ञ जितेंद्र नक्का ने बताया कि गुफा के अंदर बड़ा हॉल होने के साथ ही आखिरी छोर तक 8 से 10 की ऊंचाई कम होते हुए 2 से 3 फीट तक हो जाती है। गुफा के किनारों पर स्टैलेग्टाइट और स्टैलेग्माइट संरचनाएं मौजूद हैं, लेकिन पत्थर की गुफाओं के मुकाबले यहां अव्शैल-उत्शैल की संरचनाएं कम हैं। गुफा के अंदर के कक्ष में कुछ दरारों 10 से 12 फीट तक गहरी हैं और यहां प्राकृतिक जलस्रोत का माध्यम भी है। इस जलस्रोत में मछलियां भी मिली हैं।
