Habibganj
Habibganj (हबीब गंज) is a suburb in Bhopal, India, in the BHEL township in the city of Bhopal. It is notable for the Habibganj Railway Station, the second busiest station in the city after the Bhopal Junction, of which name has been changed to Rani Kamlapati Station w.e.f 15.11.2021.

Origin of name
Habibganj village was named after Habibullah, grandson of Nawab Sultan Jehan Begum.

Bhopal Habibganj Railway Station a privately owned railway station serves the area. The station is the headquarters of the Shaan - E - Bhopal Express (The pride of Bhopal). Besides the Bhopal Express, there are 12 trains, having a starting and termination point at Habibganj.

The revamped Habibganj railway station in Bhopal has been renamed after Gond queen Rani Kamlapati, the widow of the Gond ruler of Nizam Shah. The Prime Minister inaugurated this renamed railway station, redeveloped with modern airport-like amenities, on November 15, during his visit to the state capital. The station was revamped at a cost of ₹450 crore under Public Private Partnership mode in three years.
Rani Kamlapati is the pride of the Gond community and the last tribal queen of Bhopal. Her kingdom was usurped by Afghan commander Dost Mohammed. When she saw that victory was not possible, she committed ‘Jal Jauhar’ (a practice of committing suicide) to save her respect. Rani Kamlapati’s son Naval Shah had been killed at Lalghati, a part of Bhopal.
The Gond community comprises the largest tribal group of India with more than 1.2 crore population. The Centre’s move evoked a mixed response. While the tribal community objected to the “distorted” facts about the queen, a few experts claimed Rani Kamlapati had not done anything for Bhopal.
“Habibganj railway station was located in a village which was named after Habibullah, grandson of Nawab Sultan Jehan Begum. After the death of his father Nasirullah Khan, Habibullah was about to become a ruler of Bhopal but Sultan Jehan Begum interfered and ensured the rule for his youngest son Hamidullah Khan in 1926. Later, Habibullah left Bhopal. He remained a bachelor and died in Pune,” Ashar Kidwai, history professor at Safia Arts College in the city, said.
“It is true that Habibullah did not do much for the city, so his name can be changed, but like Habibullah, Rani Kamlapati had also not done anything for the development of the city. It should be named after any member of the Nawab’s family or in the name of Barkatullah, a great freedom fighter from Bhopal. The Bharatiya Janata Party has tried to push the agenda of impressing the tribals and calling them Hindu by doing this,” Rizwan Uddin Ansari, a historian from Bhopal, said.
The tribals were upset for referring to Rani Kamlapati as a “Hindu queen”.
“Rani Kamlapati’s real name was Rani Kamlavati Pallam. The Gond kingdom was spread from Mandla to Bhopal. A queen of Gond Johnson from Jabalpur, Rani Durgavati was a glorious queen of the kingdom for fighting fiercely with the Mughals. Rani Kamlapati, who was a wife of Nizam Shah, was the last queen of the Gond Kingdom but she was not a Hindu queen,” Devraven Bhalavi, an activist who works for the community, said.
“In our constitution, the tribal community has a separate identity but the BJP is not missing any chance to call them a Hindu. We believe in the Constitution and the BJP is following its own constitution. Their intention is very clear, to woo tribals and later, declare them as a Hindu,” Vibhuti Jha, an expert in history of the tribal community, said.
The opposition Congress also sought to know the reason behind the need to rename the station.
Habibullah Khan gave land and also money for the construction of a small railway station in the 1920’s. Later in 1969, the state government constructed it as a second railway station in the city after Bhopal railway station in the name of Habibullah only.
भोपाल के नवाब
भोपाल में लगभग 250 साल दोस्त मोहम्मद और उनके वारिसान का शासन रहा। इन में आठ नवाब और नौ बेगम रहीं। भोपाल के आस-पास अनेक स्थानों के नाम इनके द्वारा दिये गए हैं।
बेगम शाहजहाँ के कार्यकाल में 1879 में इटारसी से भोपाल रेल्वे लाइन डाली गई थी। प्रिन्स्ली स्टेट होने से बेगम ने रेल्वे लाइन के लिये ज़मीन अंग्रेजों को मुफ़्त में दी, कुछ पैसा बेगम ने भी लगाया और फ़िरंगी से एक गुज़ारिश की थी कि भोपाली से कभी भी प्लैट्फ़ॉर्म टिकट ना लिया जाये, जिसे अंग्रेजों ने माना। भोपाल के पुराने बाशिंदों को आज भी याद होगा कि वे तफ़रीह के लिये रेल्वे स्टेशन जाते थे। तब वहाँ से गुजरने वाले खूबसूरत चेहरों का दीदार तो होता ही था दीन दुनियाँ की खबरें भी मिल जाती थीं। नसरुल्ला खान के बड़े लड़के हबीबुल्ला के नाम पर भोपाल में छोटी सी जागीर थी जिसे हबीब गंज कहा जाता था।
सन् 1900 के लगभग भोपाल में बेगम के पद पर सुल्तान जहां क़ाबिज़ हुईं। उनके नाम पर रायसेन ज़िले में सुल्तानपुर तहसील और सुलतानिया जनाना अस्पताल बना है। उनके तीन लड़के और दो लड़कियाँ हुईं। लड़कियाँ कम उम्र में अल्लाह को प्यारी हो गईं जिनमें से एक का नाम बिल्कीस जहां था और उसके नाम पर सीहोर ज़िले की सीहोर तहसील में एक क़स्बा बिल्कीस गंज है।
तीन लड़के वरिष्ठता अनुसार ऐसे थे - 1. नसरुल्ला, 2. ओबेदुल्ला, 3. हमीदुल्ला। इनकी जागीरों के नाम पर नसरुल्ला गंज,ओबेदुल्ला गंज क़स्बे हैं और आख़री नवाब हमदुल्ला के नाम पर आज का हमीदिया कॉलेज और व्यस्ततम हमीदिया रोड है। नसरुल्ला खान सबसे बड़े होने के कारण नवाब होने के हक़दार थे मगर वे अल्ला वाले थे इसलिए अंग्रेजों को पसंद ना आये। दूसरे ओबेदुल्ला मस्तमौला, हॉकी के खिलाड़ी और दबंग थे इसलिये अंग्रेजों ने उन्हें रिजेक्ट कर दिया। हमीदुल्ला अलीगढ़ और बाद में बरतानिया से पढ़ लिख आये और अंग्रेज तथा सुल्तान जहां बेगम दोनों की पसंद थे इसलिए नवाब बन गये। नसरुल्ला और अब्दुल्ला की मृत्यु संदिग्ध हालतों में हुई।
इन हालातों में नसरुल्ला खान का बड़ा लड़का हबीबुल्ला नवाबी का हक़दार बना। इसके नाम पर भोपाल में छोटी सी जागीर थी जिसे हबीब गंज कहा जाता था। दिल्ली सरकार में उसने केस किया कि उसे नवाब बनाया जाये और फ़ैसला उसके हक़ में हुआ। मगर उसकी नवाबी ज़्यादा दिन नहीं चली। बेगम सुल्तान जहां और हमीदुल्ला लंदन रवाना हो गये और विक्टोरिया महारानी से अपने पक्ष में फ़ैसला ले आये। इस प्रकार हबीबुल्ला अपदस्थ हुए।
इतिहास अपने आप को कैसे दोहराता है। 15.11.2021 को फिर हबीबुल्ला अपदस्थ होकर कूचे से बाहर हैं और “ताल तो भोपाल ताल बाक़ी सब तलईयें, रानी तो कमलापति बाक़ी सब गधईयें” की कहावत वाली रानी का नाम भारत के पहले अंतरराष्ट्रीय रेलवे स्टेशन पर चमचमा रहा है।
उल्लेखनीय है कि मध्यप्रदेश की राजधानी भोपाल में मौजूद हबीबगंज स्टेशन का नाम बदलकर रानी कमलापति रेलवे स्टेशन कर दिया गया है जो गिन्नोरगढ़ की रानी कमलापती के नाम पर किया गया है।
