Kadu (कादू)[1][2] Karu (कड़ू) is a gotra of Jats.[3]

Origin

Its early name was Kada in persian language which means poweful. [4]

Kari (कारि), Karu (कारु) is mentioned by Panini in Ashtadhyayi. [5]

History

Talakadu is a desert-like town on the left bank of the Kaveri River 45 km from Mysore and 133 km from Bangalore in Karnataka, India. Talakadu name was derived from two Kirāta twin brothers, Tala and Kādu.


Rail Inscriptions — S. W. Quadrant of Bharhut gives us following information:

56. Kadāya Yakhiya dānam. = " Gift of Kada Yakshi." [6]

H.A. Rose[7] writes that Raja Rasalu of Punjab folklore had by a paramour of the scavenger class four sons, Seo, Teo, Gheo, and Karu, from whom are respectively descended the Sials, Tiwanas, Ghebas, and Karrals.
