Kokanada (कोकनद) was a Janapada mentioned in Mahabharata which was subjugated by Arjuna. It was probably located near Jalandhar in Punjab.

Sandhya Jain[1] mentions Kokanada (कॊकनद) as a northern tribe (II.24.17). (IX.44.55) in list of Tribes With unclear Position in Kurukshetra War.

कोकनद

विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[2] ने लेख किया है ...कोकनद (AS, p.229) : कोकनद का उल्लेख महाभारत, सभापर्व में हुआ है- 'ततस्त्रिगर्ता: कौंतेयंदार्वा: कोकनदास्तथा, क्षत्रिया बहवो राजननुपाइवर्तन्त सर्वश:'[3] कुन्ती पुत्र अर्जुन ने कोकनद जनपद को त्रिगर्त और दार्व प्रदेशों के साथ ही जीता था। कोकनद की स्थिति इस प्रकार जालंधर द्वाब (पंजाब) के निकट होनी चाहिए।

In Mahabharata

Sabha Parva, Mahabharata/Book II Chapter 24 mentions countries subjugated by Arjuna that lay to the North. Kokanada (कॊकनद) is mentioned in Mahabharata (II.24.17).[4]....Then the Trigartas, the Darvas, the Kokonadas, and various other Kshatriyas, O king, advanced against the son of Pandu.


Shalya Parva, Mahabharata/Book IX Chapter 44 describes the Kings and clans who joined the ceremony for investing Kartikeya with the status of generalissimo. Kokanada (कॊकनद) is mentioned in Mahabharata (IX.44.69).[5]
