Laxman Singh Garsa
Chaudhari Laxman Singh Garsa (1919-2011) died on 6 March 2011 at the age of 92 years. He was arrested in Libya while fighting as a soldier of the then Indian British Army during the course of the Second World War. However, he managed to escape from Libian Jail along with some of his companions. He also met Subhash Chandra Bose to assist him in the freedom movement. After Independence he was in Mahar Regiment. He took part in 1948 Indo-Pak war. He retired from Indian Army in 1972.
His family
He was born in the family of Ch. Bhukh Ram Garsa and Mohari Devi at village Farat, Tahsil Chirawa, Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. He had eight sons and three daughters. Out of them six sons joined Indian Army.
Social service
After retirement from Indian Army he took up social service work while staying at his native village Farat. He donated his agricultural land for establishment of a School in the village which led to spread of education in the area. He was a strong follower of Arya Samaj. He worked for eradication of Social evils from the society.
