Mahendra Singh Kiledar was a Jat from Bhugwara Kareli tahsil in Narsinghpur district in Madhya Pradesh. He was son of Jagirdar Beni Singh Kiledar. He was MLA and Minister in Madhya Pradesh.

Bio

Shri Mahendra Singh Kiledar (also called as MS Kiledar was born in a distinguished Bamroliya Gautriya Jat family in September 1917. Your father was Shri Bane Singh ji who belonged to a rich farmer family and was a prosperous farmer. Shri Mahendra Singh Kiledar had deep interest in social service and politics. Initially he was in Prajawadi Socialist Party and was an MLA from this party. He remained the representative of the area continuously from 1962 till his death on 11/6/1971. He had to fight the 1967 elections from the Congress because he had left the Prajavadi Socialist Party and was made a member of the Congress by Kamaraj, Ashok Mehta and DP Mishra. As a result, the then disgruntled Congressmen formed a united front and campaigned hard against him, but on the strength of his ability and efficiency, he won with a huge majority. He was appointed by the Government of India for 6 months in August 1959, on the basis of his graduation in agriculture and work efficiency. After being made the leader of the agricultural team, he was sent on a study tour to countries like America, Canada, Japan etc. Brightened the image of the Agriculture Department in India by receiving honor letters and appreciation letters from the institutions there. In 1967, when the Chief Minister Pandit Dwarka Prasad Mishra did not give time to Rajmata Scindia to meet Rajmata Scindia in Pachmarhi despite the fixed time, the delegation of Congress people led by Rajmata Scindia protested against the firing on students in Gwalior, then Rajmata met Congress. Left and started rebellion. As a result, 40 MLAs were with the Rajmata. Mahendra Singh Kiledar was the chief among them.

You went to Omkareshwar in May 1967. While returning due to continuous driving, you suffered a serious heart attack and you were admitted to M.Y. of Indore. Remained admitted in hospital. On July 1, 1967, you were brought to Bhopal by special arrangement of Rajmata. Rajmata ji considered you as her brother and used to discuss and give advice on many subjects personally. When the Samyukta Vidhayak Dal regime came, you were included in the cabinet as Panchayat Minister.

He remained engaged in social service throughout his life. Public interest was paramount for him. While holding the post of minister, he never used government resources for personal work. The people of Narsinghpur district have not forgotten him and his works even today.

श्री महेंद्र सिंह किलेदार का जन्म एक प्रतिष्ठित बमरोलिया गौत्रीय जाट परिवार में सितंबर 1917 में हुआ था । आपके पिता जी श्री बने सिंह जी थे जो मालगुजार परिवार से थे और एक सम्पन्न किसान थे। श्री महेंद्र सिंह किलेदार का समाज सेवा तथा राजनीति में गहरा लगाव था । प्रारभ में वे प्रजावादी सोशलिस्ट पार्टी में थे तथा इसी पार्टी से विधायक थे । वह लगातार 1962 से 11/ 6 /1971 मृत्यु पर्यंत तक क्षेत्र के प्रतिनिधि रहे। 1967 का चुनाव उन्हें कांग्रेस से लड़ना पड़ा क्योंकि वह प्रजावादी सोशलिस्ट पार्टी छोड़ चुके थे और उन्हें कामराज, अशोक मेहता तथा डी पी मिश्रा द्वारा कांग्रेस का सदस्य बना लिया गया था। फलस्वरूप तत्कालीन असंतुष्ट कांग्रेसियों द्वारा संयुक्त मोर्चा बनाकर उनके विरुद्ध दम तोड़ प्रचार किया गया किंतु अपनी योग्यता और कार्यकुशलता के बल पर काफी बहुमत से विजय हुए ।भारत सरकार द्वारा उन्हें अगस्त 1959 में 6 माह के लिए, कृषि स्नातक तथा कार्य कुशलता के आधार पर, कृषि दल का नेता बना कर, अमेरिका, कनाडा, जापान आदि देशों की अध्ययन यात्रा पर भेजा गया। वहां की संस्थाओं के द्वारा सम्मान पत्र एवं प्रशंसा पत्र प्राप्त कर भारत में कृषि विभाग की छवि उज्जवल की। 1967 मैं ग्वालियर में छात्रों के ऊपर गोली चालन के विरोध में राजमाता सिंधिया जी के नेतृत्व में कांग्रेस जनों के प्रतिनिधि मंडल से समय तय होने के बावजूद पचमढ़ी में मुख्यमंत्री पंडित द्वारका प्रसाद मिश्रा ने जब राजमाता सिंधिया को मिलने का समय नहीं दिया तो राजमाता द्वारा कांग्रेस छोड़कर विद्रोह शुरू किया । फल स्वरूप 40 विधायक राजमाता के साथ थे। इनमें महेंद्र सिंह किलेदार प्रमुख थे

आप मई 1967 में ओमकारेश्वर दर्शनार्थ गए थे । लगातार गाड़ी चलाने के कारण लौटते समय आपको गंभीर हार्ट अटैक हुआ और आप इंदौर के एम.वाय. हॉस्पिटल में भर्ती रहे । 1 जुलाई 1967 को राजमाता के विशेष प्रबंध से आपको भोपाल लाया गया । राजमाता जी आपको अपना भाई मानती थी एवं अनेक विषयों पर व्यक्तिगत चर्चा कर सलाह देती थी । जब सं.वि.द.का शासन काल आया तब आपको मंत्रिमंडल में पंचायत मंत्री के रूप में शामिल किया गया ।

आप जीवन पर्यन्त समाज सेवा में लगे रहे ।उनके लिए जनहित सर्वोपरि था । मंत्रि पद पर रहते हुए उन्होंने कभी भी शासकीय संसाधनों का निजी कार्य में उपयोग नहीं किया । नरसिंहपुर जिले की जनता आज भी उन्हें तथा उनके कार्यों को भूली नहीं है ।
