Great patriot Late Shri Raghunath Singh Kiledar
You were born on the day of Maha Janmashtami in the year 1901 (1901) in village Bhugwara tehsil Kareli district Narsinghpur. Your father Shri Beni Singh ji was a distinguished person, who belonged to the royal family of Gohad. Your ancestors were the generals of Gohad Raj, who bravely fought the attack by the Muslim king on Gohad Raj and did not accept defeat. After a long fierce battle, they were successful in saving their fort. Pleased with his bravery and bravery, the king of Gohad honored him with many awards, jagir and the title of fort. Since then his descendants have held the title of 'Kiladar' which continues even today, but with the end of the monarchy 200 years ago, his descendants bought the boundaries of village Bhugwara and got involved in agriculture business. But the villagers never felt that they were dependent on the behavior of this family. The system is no longer the same, but the Kiledar family is still ruling the hearts of people with its behavior. He was busy in making the glorious land of Narsinghpur situated in the region of holy Narmada proud. Raghunath Singh ji's name will be inscribed in timeless letters in Narsinghpur. According to the talent of Shri Raghunath Singh Ji Kiledar, his father Shri Beni Prasad sent him to Kashi University for higher education. At this time he was the first student of this school in Narsinghpur district. During his student days, he came in contact with the great patriot Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya and by accepting the primary membership of the Indian National Congress, he started participating in the freedom movement as an active member.
Attracted by the talent of Shri Raghunath Singh ji, the Maharaja of Bharatpur married Bibi Brijraj Kumari Kaur, a princess of the family, to him. Maharaja Bharatpur gave a Ford car as Tilak. It was that lucky car of Narsinghpur on which the sacred feet of Mahatma Gandhi fell during his stay in Kareli, he traveled sitting in it.
The story of patriotism, renunciation, penance and sacrifice of Shri Raghunath Singh Kiledar, who is included in the leading list of Narsinghpur district, among the precious stones of the foundation of the Indian National Congress and the national freedom movement being carried out by it, is unique. This was the reason that at that time Congress and Kiledar, patriotism and Kiledar, freedom movement and Kiledar became synonyms of each other. At that time, the district headquarters of the Congress Party was established at Kareli instead of Narsinghpur.
Raghunath Singh Kiledar had no dearth of wealth, fame and glory. On top of that, by having a famous personality like Maharaja of Bharatpur as his father-in-law and a princess as his wife, the saying of fragrance in gold came true. If he wanted, he could have lived his whole life in such comfort without any livelihood business. But giving up all the wealth, luxuries and happiness of his family, he himself became intoxicated to sacrifice himself on the altar of freedom and inspired thousands of people to become intoxicated. Blessed is this personality who has brought glory to the past and future fort-built generations.
Shri Raghunath Singh Kiledar was imprisoned several times for the freedom movement. He was imprisoned for about 5 years in Vellore, Madras (present day Chennai), Nagpur, Hoshangabad and Narsinghpur jails. Despite the tortures of imprisonment, he remained firm on the path of sacrifice for the freedom of the country. Durdant did not bow down to the injustice of the British and did not ask for forgiveness.
These painful incidents in the life of Shri Kiledar, an embodiment of sacrifice, are not worth forgetting. When due to his busyness with the movement, he sacrificed his five minor sons for the nation during his jail visits. Lost his wife to tuberculosis due to worries about her beloved husband.
Then what else was there to lose? Raghunath Singh became more intoxicated and fought for freedom. There was wealth, family, respect and intelligence. If Raghunath Singh wanted, he could have given time to the special medical treatment of his sick sons and wife, but if not, he was worried about the country and its freedom, crores of sons and daughters of the country, he had a desire to live and die for them.
Shri Raghunath Singh Kiledar soon became established as a hardworking worker in the Congress. This was the reason why he was appointed General Secretary of the reception committee of the historic Tripura Congress convention. The chairman of this committee was Seth Govind Das. National hero Subhash Chandra Bose was the president of this Congress session. In the convention, he was entrusted with the responsibility of camp security and arrangements for national level leaders like Gandhiji, Nehruji etc. At this time, about 60 women and 100 volunteer men from village Badhwar and Bhugwara had gone to the Tripura Congress session under the leadership of Shri Hari Shankar Lal Ji Badhwar people. His successful discharge of responsibilities earned him praise.
In the year 1958, you were elected as a Lok Sabha member.
Today Raghunath Singh Kiledar is no longer among us but his memories, his personality and philosophy of work are clearly the mirror of the present Kiledar family.

महान राष्ट्रभक्त स्वर्गीय श्री रघुनाथ सिंह किलेदार
आपका जन्म महा जन्माष्टमी के दिन सन् उन्नीस सौ एक (1901) में ग्राम भुगवारा तहसील करेली जिला नरसिंहपुर में हुआ था । आपके पिताजी श्री बेनी सिंह जी एक प्रतिष्ठित व्यक्ति थे, जिनका संबंध गोहद के राजघराने से था । आपके पूर्वज गोहद राज के सेनापति थे , जिन्होंने गोहद राज पर मुस्लिम राजा द्वारा किए गए आक्रमण का डटकर मुकाबला किया एवं हार नहीं मानी । एक लंबे भीषण युद्ध के बाद अपने किले को बचाने में सफल रहे । उनके इस साहसिक कार्य एवं वीरता से प्रसन्न होकर गोहद के राजा ने उन्हें कई पुरस्कारों, जागीर एवं किलेदार की पदवी से विभूषित किया । तभी से उनके वंशजों द्वारा किलेदार की पदवी धारित की गई जो आज भी निरंतर है , लेकिन आज से 200 वर्ष पूर्व राजतंत्र की समाप्ति के साथ ही उनके वंशज ग्राम भुगवारा की सीमा को क्रय कर कृषि व्यवसाय में संलग्न हो गए किन्तु ग्रामवासियों को इस परिवार के व्यवहार से कभी ऐसा महसूस नहीं हुआ कि वह परतंत्र हैं । व्यवस्था तो वह नहीं रही, पर किलेदार परिवार आज भी अपने व्यवहार से लोगों के दिलों पर राज कर रहा है । पावन नर्मदा के अंचल में बसे नरसिंहपुर की गरिमामई माटी को गौरवान्वित करने में रत रहे । नरसिंहपुर में रघुनाथ सिंह जी का नाम कालजयी अक्षरों में अंकित रहेगा । श्री रघुनाथ सिंह जी किलेदार की प्रतिभा के अनुरूप इनके पिता श्री बेनी प्रसाद ने उच्च शिक्षा प्राप्त करने हेतु काशी विश्वविद्यालय भेजा । इस समय नरसिंहपुर जिले के इस विद्यालय के वह प्रथम छात्र थे । अपने छात्र जीवन में ही इनका संपर्क देशभक्त महा मना पंडित मदन मोहन मालवीय जी से हुआ और इन्होंने भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस की प्राथमिक सदस्यता स्वीकार करते हुए एक सक्रिय सदस्य के रूप में स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन में सहभागिता देना प्रारंभ कर दिया ।
श्री रघुनाथ सिंह जी की प्रतिभा से आकर्षित होकर महाराजा भरतपुर परिवार की राजकुमारी बीबीजी बृजराज कुमारी कौर का विवाह इनके साथ कर दिया । महाराजा भरतपुर ने एक फोर्ड कार तिलक में दी । नरसिंहपुर की वह सौभाग्यशाली कार थी जिस पर करेली प्रवास के दौरान महात्मा गांधी के पावन चरण पड़े , इसमें बैठकर उन्होंने यात्रा की ।
भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस और उसके द्वारा किए जा रहे राष्ट्रीय स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन के नींव के अनमोल पत्थरों में नरसिंहपुर जिले की अग्रणी सूची में समायोजित श्री रघुनाथ सिंह किलेदार का देश प्रेम, त्याग, तपस्या और बलिदान की गाथा अनूठी है । यही कारण था कि उस समय कांग्रेस और किलेदार, राष्ट्रभक्ति और किलेदार, स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन और किलेदार एक दूसरे के पर्यायवाची शब्द बन गए थे । उस समय कांग्रेस पार्टी का जिला मुख्यालय नरसिंहपुर के बजाय करेली स्थापित किया गया था ।
रघुनाथ सिंह किलेदार के पास संपत्ति यश-वैभव की कमी नहीं थी । ऊपर से महाराजा भरतपुर जैसे प्रसिद्ध व्यक्तित्व को श्वसुर के रूप में और एक राजकुमारी को पत्नी के रूप में पाकर सोने में सुगंध की कहावत चरितार्थ हो गई थी । वह चाहते तो अपने सारे जीवन को ऐसो आराम से बगैर कोई जीवन-निर्वाही व्यवसाय गुजार सकते थे । पर सारी दौलत, ऐशो-आराम, परिजनों का सुख सब कुछ त्याग कर स्वतंत्रता की बेदी पर बलिदान होने के लिए खुद मतवाले हुए और हजारों लोगों को मतवाला बनने की अभिप्रेरणा दी । धन्य है यह व्यक्तित्व जिसने विगत और आगत किलेदार पीढ़ी का नाम रोशन किया ।
श्री रघुनाथ सिंह किलेदार स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन के लिए कई बार कारावास गए उन्हें वेल्लोर, मद्रास (वर्तमान चेन्नई), नागपुर, होशंगाबाद एवं नरसिंहपुर जेल में करीब 5 वर्ष कैद रखा गया । कारावास की यातनाओं के बावजूद वह देश की आजादी के लिए बलिदान की राह पर अडिग रहे । दुर्दांत अंग्रेजों के अन्याय के आगे झुके नहीं, क्षमा नहीं मांगी ।
त्याग की प्रतिमूर्ति श्री किलेदार के जीवन की यह दर्दनाक घटनाएं भूलने योग्य नहीं है । जब आंदोलन की व्यस्तता के कारण वह जेल यात्राओं के दौरान अपने अवयस्क पांच पुत्रों को राष्ट्र पर कुर्बान कर दिया । अपने प्रिय पति की चिंताओं से ग्रस्त होने के कारण क्षय रोग की शिकार हुई पत्नी को खो दिया।
फिर और क्या खोना था? रघुनाथ सिंह और अधिक मतवाले हो गए जंगे आजादी के लिए। धन - दौलत, परिवार था, मान प्रतिष्ठा थी, बुद्धिमता थी । यदि रघुनाथ सिंह चाहते तो बीमार पुत्रों, पत्नी की विशिष्ट चिकित्सा व्यवस्था को समय दे सकते थे , पर नहीं उन्हें तो देश और देश की आजादी, देश के करोड़ों पुत्र और पुत्रियों की चिंता थी, उनके लिए मरने जीने की लालसा थी।
श्री रघुनाथ सिंह किलेदार कांग्रेस में कर्मठ कार्यकर्ता के रूप में शीघ्र ही प्रतिष्ठित हो गए थे । यही कारण था कि उन्हें ऐतिहासिक त्रिपुरा कांग्रेस अधिवेशन की स्वागत समिति का महामंत्री नियुक्त किया गया । इस समिति के अध्यक्ष सेठ गोविंद दास जी थे । इसी कांग्रेस अधिवेशन के राष्ट्र नायक सुभाष चंद्र बोस अध्यक्ष थे । अधिवेशन में शिविर सुरक्षा और राष्ट्र स्तरीय नेता गणों यथा - गांधीजी, नेहरू जी आदि की व्यवस्था का दायित्व इन्हें सौंपा गया था । इस समय ग्राम बधवार एवं भुगवारा से लगभग 60 महिलाओं १०० स्वयं सेवक पुरुष श्री हरि शंकर लाल जी बधवार वालों के नेतृत्व में त्रिपुरा कांग्रेस अधिवेशन में गए थे । उत्तरदायित्वों के सफल निर्वहन ने उन्हें प्रशंसित किया ।
वर्ष 1958 में आप लोक सभा सदस्य निर्वाचित हुए थे ।
आज रघुनाथ सिंह किलेदार हमारे बीच नहीं हैं परंतु उनकी स्मृतियां उनका व्यक्तित्व और कृतित्व का दर्शन वर्तमान किलेदार परिवार का दर्पण स्पष्ट कर रहा है।
